A hidden lagoon. Two oceans. Rays gliding beneath you.
90 minutes of guided wonder — then the lagoon is yours
Yalku Lagoon sits a few minutes north of Akumal, where an ancient underground cenote river meets the Caribbean Sea. The result is a completely sheltered, wave-free lagoon with visibility so clear you can spot a parrotfish from 10 metres away. For 90 minutes, your guide leads you through the best spots — pointing out rays, angelfish, groupers and the occasional sea turtle drifting in from the open ocean.
When the guided snorkel ends, you don't have to leave. Stay and keep exploring at your own pace, for as long as you like. Everything is included from the start: life jacket, snorkel mask, brand-new tube and park entrance fee — zero hidden costs, zero surprises.
All of this is covered in your $35
Yours the moment you arrive — float effortlessly, hands free, at any experience level
Quality mask fitted and ready — the clearest view you'll have under water
Fresh, unused snorkel tube every single time — breathe easy without a second thought
Entry to Yalku's protected reserve is included — no surprise charge at the gate
Xarou's team leads you through the lagoon's best spots for a full hour and a half
Tour ends — you don't have to. Stay and explore the lagoon on your own, for as long as you want
What guests say
"The turtle stopped right in front of my mask. I completely forgot to breathe."
"Xarou has been reading this bay for 14 years. It shows in every moment underwater."
"We saw four turtles in 45 minutes. Our group of six felt like the only people in the bay."
A living aquarium at every turn
Yalku's exceptional biodiversity will stop you mid-stroke. Glide over parrotfish, angelfish, groupers, rays, and in season, sea turtles drifting in from the open Caribbean. Visibility here is extraordinary — far clearer than open-water snorkeling — so every colour, every scale, every detail jumps out at you in sharp relief.
🌿 Yalku is a protected ecological reserve. Only biodegradable sunscreen is permitted in the water.
Pack these essentials
